National Work Zone Awareness Week Observances

National Work Zone Awareness Week was observed April 6-10. The Clearinghouse website, www.workzonesafety.org now has an extensive listing of information on the national media event, state and awareness events and updated resources. This page also features video footage of interviews with Joseph S. Toole, FHWA's Associate Administrator for Safety, Bud Wright, former FHWA executive director and chair of ARTBA’s Traffic Safety Advisory Council and the family of Rick Moser, a 21-year veteran of the Maryland State Highway Administration who was fatally injured in a work zone.

The Clearinghouse serves on the Executive Planning Committee for National Work Zone Awareness week via the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). This year the Clearinghouse funded the printing of the Awareness Week posters and shipped thousands of support materials at no cost to be used for campaigns across the United States. In Washington D.C., the Clearinghouse displayed orange candles and lighting in the ARTBA building windows and hung a work zone awareness flag in observance of the week. Please submit your Awareness Week information and photos to Lisa McCluskey.
