Abstract: This presentation tackles the "Work Zone Issues of Today" such as:
-Work zone issues have grown beyond the work area
-The public is telling us they are concerned
-More dollars are available through TEA-21 than ever before for road work
-Congestion is growing
-Traffic is increasing, and
-Fatalities are at an all time high
Objectives this presentation sets forth are better communication to the public and a communication plan to address substantial disruption. By Spring 2004 the FHWA hopes to publish the final rule on work zones.
