Title: IDOT Strives to Speak Spanish: Bilingual Employees Sought to Meet Need

Abstract: In an effort to increase the number of Spanish speakers at the Illinois Department of Transportation, the agency targets at least six positions for Spanish speakers in the Emergency Traffic Patrol. It is part of an initiative to hire roughly 75 people this year, about 50 for positions as highway maintainers in Cook County and about 25 Emergency Traffic Patrol workers, who help drivers in trouble on Chicago expressways.
