Outreach Details
State/Agency: Missouri
Campaign Name: MoDOT's Operation Orange
Description: Operation Orange, MoDOT’s signature effort to promote safety in work zones kicks off during National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week April 4-8. The goal of this work zone campaign is to reduce work zone crashes and fatalities by educating Missouri drivers on the importance of driving safely. MoDOT launched Operation Orange in 2007, and its success continues to grow. A growing number of partners have joined Operation Orange. The theme of "Don't Barrel Through Work Zones" is used along with MoDOT's road signs that remind motorists that "The Difference is YOU. Drive Smart." Last year, more than more than 70 buildings and landmarks throughout the state turned their facility orange or posted safety messages on signs to highlight the need to drive safely in work zones. Many of these partners will join in the efforts to paint Missouri orange once again. New to look for this year will be signs or displays at welcome centers across the state, thanks to the Missouri Department of Tourism. For a list of partners joining in this year’s effort, go to the web site below.
