Give ’em a Brake
The men and women who maintain and improve Washington’s more than 7,000 miles of state highway ask you to slow down and pay extra attention to road construction signs. The Give ‘Em A Brake” program promotes the protection of workers out on the job. Extra signs will be out this summer to warn you to slow down and Give ’em a Brake in work zones. WSDOT asks drivers to “Give em a Brake” in the work zone. But you can also give yourself a break by driving carefully in the work zone. An overwhelming majority of people injured or killed in work zone collisions are drivers and passengers. So slow down, pay attention, help protect the worker and yourself. Drivers need to pay extra attention and slow down in a work zone as the driving conditions may not be what they see on a typical day. We do everything we can to get the work done quickly, but it’s important to remember, there will be a long-term benefit to all our road projects.
