Title: York Introduces Smart Work Zones
Abstract: The York Region is employing a pilot program on Jane Street that involves the use of multiple electronic variable message signs. The pilot program is expected to reduce traffic congestion in work zones and increase work zone safety in the area. Motorists travelling on Jane Street will be electronically informed of any expected traffic delays and can decide which route will be the most efficient. If the pilot program is successful, York Region motorists can expect to see similar programs in the future.
