Title: ARTBA Comments on Occupational Safety & Health Administration Personal Protective Equipment Proposal
Abstract: In response to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inquiry, ARTBA told the agency there are limited exceptions to the general rule that employers should be required to pay for personal protective equipment (PPE). ARTBA said a good rule of thumb is-if a single unit of PPE has a durable life of more than one year, costs more than $500, and is not suitable for use by another employee, that PPE may be considered a tool of the trade for temporary, seasonal employees.
