Abstract: The 2001 edition of the Caltrans Construction Manual (manual) supercedes in authority the procedures contained in all previous editions issued by the California Department of Transportation. Since the last complete revision of the manual there have been many changes and improvements in Caltrans construction administration policy. This manual establishes policy and procedure for the construction phase of contract work and describes the duties of field personnel assigned to construction projects. This manual is not a contract document. It is a book of reference and instruction to be used in the administration of contract projects.
