Title: Short Term Pavement Markings

Abstract: This resolution "requests that the Federal Highway Administration review and/or revise the current [short-term pavement marking] regulation." AASHTO's recommendations cover lanes lines, center lines on two-lane / two-way roadways, and center lanes on multilane roadways. Guidelines for when markings should be installed are also included, as are guidelines for posting No Passing Zone signs. AASHTO further recommends that FHWA "continue research to compare the effectiveness and cost benefits of on (1) foot, two (2) foot and four (4) foot short-term markings."
