Title: Work Zones in High Gear

Abstract: Based on the work zone crash data from the web sites of the Federal Highway Administration's Work Zone Mobility and Safety Program and the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse, a high number of fatalities and injuries occur in work zones. To bring national attention to motorist and worker safety and mobility issues in work zones, National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is held each year in April. The stimulus money began flowing to road reconstruction projects this year. More money brings more work zones, more (temporary) congestion, and more risk.
