Practice Provision: Requirements for work or shadow vehicles to have Truck-Mounted Attenuator (TMA)
Description:
Illinois requires that work zone lane closures be set up in the direction of traffic flow. Vehicles used in this process may work out of the closed lane. Work zone take-down is done in the reverse direction with vehicle in the closed lane. An option to this is taking down the lane closure in the direction of traffic flow, as a moving operation. The moving operation would require a shadow vehicle with Truck-Mounted Attenuator and arrowboard. Shadow vehicles with TMAs are required to be separate from work vehicles.
