Title: Trenching Safety
Description: Trenching and excavation work presents serious hazards to all workers involved. Unfortunately, trench collapses (cave-ins) cause dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries each year. The objective of this course is to provide guidelines for establishing OSHA-approved protective systems for a variety of common trenching/excavating projects (pipe installation, ditching, etc). This training is mostly classroom-based, and includes a PowerPoint presentation and a course book. At some training sites, examples of protective system equipment may also be available for discussion or demonstration.
Audience: Local agency personnel involved in trenching operations.
