Title: Florida "Intermediate"
Description:
ATSSA's in-depth Florida Intermediate Training will provide instruction in the proper safety standards to assist in monitoring and recognizing any deficiencies during the course of a temporary traffic control project. This 16-hour course includes introductory classroom instruction referenced from the FDS (Index 600 Series) and the MUTCD (Part 6). The State of Florida requires this course for all personnel who perform work on Florida state roads and whose duties include the following activities:
- Direct responsibility of replacement of work zone traffic control devices.
- Direct responsibility for field maintenance of work zone traffic control devices.
- Inspection of the placement or operational function of work zone traffic control devices.
- Drafting or electronic generation of work zone traffic control plans.
In addition, flagging operations will be covered in enough detail that an individual who successfully completes this course will be capable of providing basic training as required by the DOT.
*Completion of this course allows individuals to train flaggers to meet DOT's requirements.
