The Role of the Federal Highway Administration

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), of the U.S. Department of Transportation, promotes safety for new teenage drivers through its Work Zone Mobility and Safety Program. This program’s objective is to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of work zones for all road users—including teenagers—and workers. As the primary federal government agency with responsibility for building, maintaining and repairing our nation’s roadways, FHWA feels a keen desire to ensure the safety of work zones for new teenage drivers.
