Portable Positive Protection: A Guide for Short Duration and Short Term Work Zones

Abstract:

This guideline covers various types of positive protection devices that can be easily placed and moved for short duration and short term work operations, especially compared with traditional portable concrete barrier.   It provides guidelines on the use of steel barriers, protective vehicles such as advance warning, shadow, and barrier vehicles, and barrier trailers.   The document also includes suggestions for planning for use of portable positive protection along with a related typical application.
