Quality Guidelines for Temporary Traffic Control Devices and Features

Abstract:

This pocket-size handbook helps contractors and agency personnel determine when a traffic control device has outlived its usefulness. Color photos and/or written descriptions of work zone devices illustrate three levels of device condition: acceptable, marginal, and unacceptable. These standards have been developed in an effort to offset the deterioration in appearance of work zone devices. The devices described include signs, barricades, drums, cones, tubes, warning lights, arrow panels, changeable message signs, pavement markings, and markers.
