Transportation Worker’s Death Has Led to Safety Changes: Department of Transportation
Author/Presenter: Thomas, BrodieAbstract:
Cape Ray resident Wayne Wall was struck and killed by a vehicle on July 23, 2013 while painting lines on the Trans-Canada Highway near Steel Mountain. On this one-year anniversary of Wall’s death, the Department of Transportation highlights safety changes that have been made, which include increased safety training for staff, stopped practice of painting the word “yield” at the end of passing lanes, reduced number of arrows it paints on roadways, and a planned radio advertising campaign for later this summer to remind drivers about safety concerns when driving through constructions zones.
