Battelle and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) conducted a two-day demonstration site visit of smarter work zones utilizing innovative technology applications in Kansas City, Kansas and Council Bluffs, Iowa on August 2-3, 2016. The two-day visit included an informative sessions various lane merge strategies (Dynamic Lane Merge [DLM] and Rural Zipper Merge [RZM] systems) and tours of the I-XXX Bridge Construction Project and Kansas City Scout traffic management system, as well as an overview of Smarter Work Zone (SWZ) systems.
