Every Day Counts - Smarter Work Zones

Some documents are made available in PDF format. You will need Adobe Reader to view them.

Battelle and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) conducted a demonstration site visit with the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) to discuss the use of positive protection devices in work zones. The site visit was conducted on September 12, 2019, in Frisco, Texas. The site visit included a design-to-deployment presentation by the NTTA implementation team, as well as field demonstrations of a mobile barrier trailer in an active work zone and at the maintenance garage. FHWA’s 2018 memo on “eligibility of construction and highway safety equipment acquisition costs as a direct charge” also was discussed in relation to purchasing options for positive protection devices. The agenda is provided below with a link to the presentation.
